Who we are

NiSP promotes the active integration of sustainability research and academic efforts across Northwestern University's schools and departments, in collaboration with corporate partners and external sponsors. NiSP brings together faculty and students from diverse disciplines with external clients and advisors to explore solutions and pathways for fundamental and applied problems in sustainability. Distinctive interdisciplinary strengths will be coordinated, communicated, and synthesized in a model of fundamental and applied research that addresses sustainability topics by seeking to combine technological, environmental, economic, and social dimensions.

NiSP works closely with the Initiative for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern,  the Center for Global Citizenship, Center for Innovation in Global Health Technology, the Center for Research in Technology and Innovation,  the Infrastructure Technology Institute, the Kellogg-McCormick MMM program, the NICO Institute for Complexity, the School of Continuing Studies, the SEEK program, and the Transportation Center.
